Adverbs can be quite confusing in English. Here is an example from the adjective HARD.
HARD has 2 adverbs, HARD and HARDLY. They actually have opposite meanings.
To work HARD means to work very intensely, with energy.
To HARDLY work means to not work very well at all.
So next time you’re at work, ask yourself ‘Am I working HARD, or HARDLY working?’
